How does SkinPen® work?

SkinPen® uses a precision, FDA cleared device with ultra fine needles to create controlled micro injuries within the skin. This activates your skin's natural wound healing response, stimulating the production and remodelling of collagen and elastin, the two proteins responsible for firm, smooth, youthful looking skin.

Unlike treatments that offer only a temporary surface level glow, microneedling works with your skin's biology to support genuine, longer-term improvements in texture, firmness and the appearance of scarring.

What happens during your treatment?

Your treatment is designed around you, from start to finish.

1. Consultation & assessment — A thorough review of your skin, concerns and goals

2. Preparation — Your skin is cleansed and prepared for treatment

3. Treatment — The SkinPen® device is carefully passed across the treatment area using a tailored technique, with needle depth and intensity adjusted to your skin and goals

During treatment, you may notice warmth, tingling or a light prickling sensation, some areas may feel more sensitive than others. Immediately afterwards, your skin may appear red and flushed, similar to mild sunburn, and may feel warm, tight or sensitive to the touch. This is a normal and expected part of the skin's healing response.

Downtime & recovery

SkinPen® is minimally invasive, but as with any treatment that stimulates the skin's healing response, some downtime is normal.

You may experience redness, dryness, sensitivity or mild peeling in the days following treatment. These responses generally last around 1–7 days, depending on your individual skin.

You'll be given personalised aftercare advice following your session. Keeping your skin protected from sun exposure and well hydrated is especially important during recovery, this is where a lot of the results are made.

When will I see results?

Many clients notice their skin looking brighter and more refreshed as it begins to heal, but the real transformation happens gradually, from within.

Collagen production and skin remodelling continue for weeks and months after treatment, meaning improvements in texture, firmness and scarring often continue to develop long after you've left the clinic.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends entirely on your individual skin concerns and goals.

• More established concerns, such as acne scarring — may require a more targeted, structured treatment plan

Is SkinPen® suitable for me?

Microneedling can be suitable for a wide range of skin types and concerns, but it isn't suitable for everyone, and that's exactly why a consultation always comes first.

Before any treatment, we'll assess your skin, medical history, current skincare routine and individual concerns. If microneedling isn't the right fit for you at this time, we'll always recommend a suitable alternative or advise on how to prepare your skin first.
